You can do it:
Every friday after assembly we go back to the classroom and the teachers pick some one for either, Resilence, Cofidence, Organisation, Persisance or Getting Along. Then the class nomiate 1 or 2 people depending on how many people the teachers nomiate for there pick, that have done something special through out the week. We then have a vote to see who the 3 people are.
Then at asembly 2 people go out the front and read out the you can do it awards, the school gets 1 person from each grade, and the teachers of there class pick those ones. With our grade though, because we work in a 3 grader,we get 3 awards from the whole grade 6. This is what a you can do it award looks like.
Peer mediation:
Every week the teachers pick 4 people to do peer mediation at recesses and lunch times. What they have to do is to walk around the school waring these bright yellow vests so the other kids can see them easily, If there is a problem in the playground then the kids are expected to go to these people before the teachers. Then if it’s a bad problem, we then have to take the group over to a table and try and work things out with them. If it gets too hard for us then we have to take the problem to the teachers, a lot of the times the little fights are poking tongues out at each other, and they’re the ones that you just tell them to either ignore them or go and find someone else to play with for that lunch time. When you put your hand up to do the peer mediation you pick someone else with their hand up that you would like to do the job with.

Classroom Jobs:
Everyone in the grade six’s have a job around the class room before the end of the day, after the last session when we start to pack up the class room. My job is to be the rebluetackera – which is where I have to blue tack everything that has fallen down, I made that job up because I thought I wouldn’t need to do much work, but I guess I was wrong, because I do there is always something to blue tack back up. If there is someone that is away on that day then the people that have no jobs that are called the (Fill Inn’s) have to divide the jobs equally and do all the jobs for the people that are away. Sport:
Every Friday the whole of grade 6 gets to go outside to play sport. We play different games every week. Soon there is going to be a team of girls and a mixed team that is going to be going off to a tournament, so the mixed and girl’s team in sport time do netball training instead of sport. Miss S takes all the people that are in the netball teams and tells us what to do during training.
The rest of the grade 6 go off with, Miss Bates or Dom, they are the other 2 teachers that take sport as well. They usually take everyone else out to play international rounders, or continua’s kick ball, or even just kick ball.Sometimes because the netball group is quite big, they just play little games such as, down ball, octopus, basic skipping games (ect).
